Cisarua – DHIS Secondary Lembang successfully carried out its community service program, “Bina Desa”, in Desa Tugu, Cisarua. The event, held as part of the school’s social responsibility and character-building initiative, involved various meaningful activities aimed at uplifting and supporting the local community.
The “Bina Desa” program included three main components:
Distribution of Basic Necessities (Sembako)
Students and teachers distributed packages of basic food supplies to local families in need. This act of giving was not only a form of support but also a practical lesson in empathy and community care for the students involved.
Health Check Services
A health check-up station was set up to provide basic medical services for residents, including blood pressure checks, general consultations, and health education. These services were provided in collaboration with healthcare professionals and volunteers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining personal and family health.
STEM Learning Program for Local School
One of the highlights of the program was the introduction of a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Learning session for the students of a local elementary school. DHIS Secondary students conducted hands-on activities and simple experiments to spark curiosity and excitement about science and learning. The session was designed to be interactive and inspiring, making science accessible and fun for the young learners.
“We want our students to grow not only academically, but also as socially responsible and compassionate individuals,” said a DHIS teacher involved in the program. “Through Bina Desa, they learn to serve, to lead, and to connect with communities beyond their daily environment.”
The spirit of collaboration, kindness, and education filled the day, as both the residents of Desa Tugu and the DHIS students walked away enriched by the experience. The event concluded with smiles, gratitude, and a renewed sense of togetherness — showing that small acts of service can make a big difference.
