The cool atmosphere at the foot of Mount Tangkuban Parahu witnessed the implementation of the Akhlaq & Character Camp organized by DHIS Secondary Lembang. This event, themed “Strengthening Akhlaq, Building Character, Striving for Excellence,” was attended by all junior and senior high school students with enthusiasm and excitement. The activities, which lasted for several days, were designed to reinforce the values of discipline and Islamic character that serve as the main foundation in shaping outstanding individuals.
Various activities were conducted, ranging from marching training, discipline exercises, team-building activities, to sharing sessions and moral guidance with teachers and spiritual mentors. The Head of DHIS Secondary Lembang, Ilyas Nasruloh, explained that these activities are part of the unique program implemented by the Darul Hikam Education Council, known as TCB (Taqwa Character Building). “Through this camp, we aim to instill the values of piety and strong character in our students. Not only to excel academically, but also to grow into individuals with noble character who can bring blessings to their environment,” said Ilyas on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
More than just an outdoor activity, the Akhlaq & Character Camp serves as a platform for students to practice responsibility, teamwork, and leadership.
In an open natural setting, participants are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones to learn to appreciate the process, help one another, and build strong camaraderie. In addition to physical activities and self-reflection, Ilyas mentioned that participants also took part in a spiritual talk session led by a religious mentor. During this session, students were invited to contemplate the meaning of piety and the importance of maintaining a pure heart and good behavior in daily life.
Activities like this serve as a tangible expression of contextual Islamic character education. "Children don't just hear theories in the classroom, but they experience them directly in the field. From waking up on time, maintaining cleanliness, to respecting one another, all of these are practical exercises in good morality," he explained. With a calming natural backdrop and fresh mountain air, the Akhlaq & Character Camp provides a learning experience that integrates with nature and spiritual values. This activity is expected to be a strategic step for DHIS Secondary Lembang in shaping a younger generation that embodies Islamic character, high integrity, and is ready to contribute positively to society. "We want children to understand that true excellence is not just about academic grades, but about how they bring benefits and goodness wherever they are," Ilyas concluded.
