Students of Darul Hikam Integrated School (DHIS) Secondary Lembang are taking real actions to implement knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through the program.Village DevelopmentCommunity Service Program.

This annual program is designed to cultivate students' social awareness while providing concrete solutions to community issues through a scientific approach. In addition to creating natural cosmetic products, students also engage in social service activities, offer free health check-ups, and teach at local primary schools.
PrincipalDHIS Secondary LembangIlyas Nasruloh explained that this activity serves as a platform for students to apply the theories learned in class to community life.
This activity is a manifestation of the development of character and etiquette among children in the community. We want to ensure that the advanced STEM knowledge at our school is balanced with a real social role. Students learn how to communicate knowledge, interact, and solve environmental issues such as waste management in this village.
One of the main highlights of this program is a workshop on lip balm making using rose petal extract. The choice of roses is based on the results of a social mapping conducted by the students, which identified the abundance of this natural resource in Pasir Ipis Village, yet it has not been utilized optimally.
Nisrina Zahira Putri, as the Program Coordinator, expressed the enthusiasm of the community towards the innovation.
We conducted a social project on making lip balm from natural rose petal dye. Alhamdulillah, the students were very enthusiastic and the villagers were pleased. Our great hope is that this creativity contributes positively to the local community.
For the students, this program is not just a school assignment, but an opportunity to educate the community about entrepreneurship based on local potentials. Sazkia Fitri Ratama and Waffa Nur Syuhada, student representatives who facilitated the workshop, hope this idea can be developed into an independent business unit by the villagers.
"We invite the community to participate in the production of this lip balm. Besides its health and aesthetic benefits, we see this as a potential business idea where residents can sell unique products from this village. We hope that the community can take this lesson as a suggestion to creatively utilize their greatest potential, which is the rose," said Sazkia.
